Retirement 101

Retirement planning is essential. This session will provide an overview of retirement options and resources within the University Sytem of Georgia and the University of Georgia.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the mandatory retirement plans (TRS or ORP)
  • Understand retiree requirements and benefits
  • Learn about resources available for retirement education and planning

Speakers:

Angie Dellinger, HR senior managing consultant, employee Well-being Team, UGA Human Resources
Angie Dellinger joined University Human Resources 10 years ago in the benefits department and was responsible for assisting newly-hired employees with benefit and retirement questions. She also served as the UGA contact for workers compensation. Currently she is a human resources senior benefits managing consultant meeting with employees on retirement and benefits into retirement. Angie earned her bachelor’s degree in consumer economics from the University of Georgia.
Joanna Manzi, assistant director of benefits and well-being, UGA Human Resources
Joanna joined University Human Resources in 2004. She has over 29 years of human resources experience. Joanna started with UHR as a benefits counselor where she counseled UGA employees and retirees on every aspect of their benefits. For 14 years, she managed all aspects of the UGA student health insurance plans, and serves on the USG Student Health Insurance Plan Advisory Committee. Currently, Joanna serves as the assistant director, benefits and well-being. Joanna holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and human resources from UGA and a master’s degree in personnel and employee relations from the University of South Carolina.
