2024 GHPCO Annual Clinical and Leadership Conference
“What is the Score for 2024?”
Steven Garner – Keynote Speaker
Cordt T. Kassner, PhD, Closing Plenary
Each year, GHPCO strives to create an annual educational conference focused on leadership and clinical topics from a variety of local, regional and national experts. This year’s theme, “What is the Score for 2024?” provides a broad platform from which to acknowledge the efforts hospice and palliative care providers face and to discuss the changes in our system of care delivery which includes palliative medicine and hospice care.
We are especially excited this year to host several nationally recognized speakers throughout the conference including: Steven Garner as our opening keynote speaker and Cordt Kassner PhD as closing plenary speaker along with many other local and national content experts!
Visit the Georgia Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the 2024 GHPCO EventMobi web sites for additional details.
Speakers:
Steven Garner
Louisiana’s notorious Angola prison is the largest maximum security state prison in the country. But it’s also become known for its hospice program and, to a lesser degree, its prison quilters. Steven Garner was incarcerated at Angola for 31 years and participated in one of the nation’s first prison-based hospice programs, a program that notably incorporates inmate volunteers into the care of other dying inmates.
He moved to Colorado to be near family where he now spends most of his free time building on the quilting skills he learned in prison.
Steven has given keynote presentations at the Missouri Hospice & Palliative Care Organization (2022), Homecare & Hospice Association of Colorado (2023), and Louisiana ~ Mississippi Hospice & Palliative Care Organization annual conferences.
